The International Day of the Girl Child – now celebrated annually on 11 October – promotes girls’ empowerment and draws attention to the challenges they face. The 2012 inaugural Day focuses on child marriage, a fundamental rights violation that affects every facet of a girl’s life.

while i think this is a good idea, the ad i saw for it said “let’s promote gender equality by Day of the Girl” ummm……
